Types of Paragraph Writing

Narration
Paragraphs written as a narration are a chronological presentation of events that add up to a story. Paragraphs of this type contain characters, setting, conflict and resolution.

Description
Descriptive type of paragraphs are written in such a way that the reader is able to imagine the scene, object, person, etc. Series of detailed observations are recorded, using sensory language. Descriptions are like narrative paragraphs, with visual characteristics unfolding in a dramative way. The main objective of a description is to move the story ahead.

Definition
Definition type of paragraphs, provide the meaning, using events and happenings. A strong effort should be made to clearly explain what something is, and not what it is not.

Comparison
The objective of paragraphs written in comparison style is to compare, two or more objects, characters, events etc. A chart can be prepared before writing a comparison paragraph. This chart could include the names of the items compared, and the criteria by which they are compared.

Persuasion
This type of paragraph is used in editorials and columns. A direct approach is the best in writing a persuasive paragraph. The objective of a persuasive paragraph is to persuade people to change their minds, or take action. Persuasive paragraphs help people formulate an opinion and deepen it, by adding conviction.

Exposition
Expository paragraphs are explanatory in nature. They could be an important part of a description or narration. Credibility should be added in an expository paragraph, by citing authorities that have good credentials. This type of paragraph, could also be a justifier that explains why something is important.

Process analysis
A process analysis paragraph describes how a process happens, through a series of actions. The actions are put in a sequence. This type of paragraphs are usually followed by illustration, as they help in understanding the process better.

    THE LEGEND OF COBAN RONDO

I live at Coban Rondo Street, Pujon, Malang. It is called Coban Rondo because the area is near Coban Rondo Waterfall. Coban Rondo is a name of a waterfall in Malang Regency. It is place of recreation because it shows the beautiful panorama.
The weather in there is cool, because it is in the high land. It is not just waterfall. It has many kinds of the adventure programs. They are Rock Climbing, Paralayang, Rafting, Jungle Trekking, Tasung (Wet Trekking), Outbound Training and many kinds of game.
Coban Rondo waterfall has a history why it is called is. So, the ancestry legend storied that name of Coban Rondo source from the story of love from a new couple that had a new marriage.
The name of bride is Dewi Anjarwati from Kawi Mountain. She married with Raden Baron Kusumo from Anjasmoro Mountain. After the age of marriage until 36th days, in Javanese called as Selapan, Dewi Anjarwati invited her husband went to her parents in low house in Anjasmoro Mountain. In spite of Dewi Anjarwati parents forbid the new couple to go, because the age of marriage still in Selapan. In Java, during Selapan (until 36th days) is dangerous day for a new couple if they go to some places that has long distance, because the persons will be worry if something wrong happened to them. However, they kept walking on the risk.
When they were in a way, they were surprised by someone who suddenly appeared in front of them. He was Joko Lelono that was not clear of the lineage come from. Actually Joko Lelono interested with the beauty of Dewi Anjarwati and he wanted to get her. Consequence the fighting between Joko Lelono and Raden Baron Kusumo couldn’t avoid.
Raden Baron Kusumo said to his servants that they must hide Dewi Anjarwati in some places that had waterfall (the waterfall called as coban in Javanese). The fighting was very terrible. They were very strong. Actually, finally they were dead. The result Dewi Anjarwati status become a widow (in Javanese it is called Rondo), then it was called as Coban Rondo.
However, the big stone under the waterfall was a place for her to sit to stared her fortune.
We can take the wisdom from this story. We must be careful with everything that happened, because we are never to know about good or bad situation that will come to our live. And we must obey the message of our parents. They always hope, that them child safe from dangerous matter. If we don’t obey them message, often something bad will happened to our live.

    STORY OF “PANDEAN” STREET

The Origins Of The Tlekung Village

I live in a small hamlet called as Gangsiran which became part of the Tlekung village and Junrejo sub-district. This area is in Batu city. My village is situated at the foot of the mountain Panderman. Search appropriately about the origin of the Village Tlekung can not precisely known and definite. The records obtained so far still is a legend. However Tlekung Village had a little note, here I will describe the history in short.
Based on the story of Tlekung people, in antiquity of the Singosari kingdom there was someone named Maling Aguno. He was the first open village (tripe base) in this region and he was the ancestor of Tlekung people. He had difficulty in making a straight path because this region is hilly. So the way was adapted to natural conditions made the roads meander. This region had a lot of corners or in Javanesse language called as “nikung” because of this conditions, people called this region with that name Tlekung Village.
This region is hilly and there was one hill that blocked the way for the road so the road was deadlock. It was difficult to reach the other place through this hill. So the only way was by cutting the hill has to be the pass. Finally, the hill was divided and in the Javanesse language divide that hill called as “ngangsir”. Based on the story, the place located after the hill was called as gangsiran. This hamlet had a straight path.
The other hamlet called as “puthuk”. People said that the name was created from the location of the hamlet. It was located at the top of the highest hill in Tlekung village. In Javanesse language “puthuk” means top or very high.
In the Dutch colonial period, the village inhabited Tlekung many Dutch people. There was evidence of a heritage hotel building and swimming pool area in a place called as sumber urip. And also a chimney of the leather factory in the middle of rice field and the factory has been razed to the ground.
There are rumors said that in the chimney there was a giant snake. People who has special ability could saw that creature at a particular night. It could be turned into a Javanesse people weapon called as “keris”.
The origins of Tlekung village can not be known for certain, just stories handed down from ancestors. As well as all the Dutch colonial legacy still leaves things mysterious

On the way there was one boy greeted them,”hi pretty…is the person behind you your mother?”asked the boy.”of course not.She is my servant.”she said. How sad her mother heard that, but she was quiet. Her heart was crying. It was going continuously. Many person who greeted and asked who the old lady behind her she always said that her mother was servant.

However, the bear was so greedy and that he didn’t allow the to get any of the meat. The poor rabbit could not even taste the blood from the butchering, as the bear would throw earth on the blood and dried it up. The poor rabbit would have to go home hungry after his hard day’s work.
The bear was the father of five children. The youngest bear was very kind to the rabbit. Knowing that the youngest bear was a very hearty eater, the mother bear always gave him an extra large piece of meat. Instead of eating this extra meat, the youngest bear would take the meat outside and pretend to play ball with it, kicking it toward the rabbit’s house, and when he got close to the door he would give the meat such a great kick that it would fly into the rabbit’s house. In this way the poor rabbit would get his meal, without known by the papa bear.

But, In this writing will discuss about Wayang Kulit or shadow play / leather puppet.
Leather puppet is one of the example for kind of puppet which can we find in Indonesia. Leather puppet has form slim, two dimension and has hand-grip as the other puppet, commonly this puppet made of the skin of buffalo, goat, etc but to make this puppet, previously we must dry up the skin under the light of sun till become crispy then proceed sculpting and after it is painting process, sew on the hand-grip.
Punokawan which consist of Semar, Petruk, Gareng, Bagong is the figure in leather puppet and also Pandawa Lima, Kurawa. But, there is a difference between Pandawa Lima which consists of Yudhistira, Bima, Arjuna, Nakula, Sadewa, Pandawa Lima is the good figure and Kurawa is the bad figure and also Pandawa Lima against Kurawa because Kurawa represents greedy of puissance, you can get this story in “Mahabharata” and it is basic story in leather puppet. However, the figure is not just it, there are many kinds of figures, every figure in leather puppet has different characteristic and different parentage story.
Leather puppet cannot work without someone who work it, “Dalang” is someone who can work the leather puppet but to be “Dalang” is not easy because we must act different characteristic, sound for every figure puppet. In other way, “Dalang” always tell about goodness and weakness in our life because the story of puppet or character of puppet is a reflection of our life.

    Exposition paragraph
Public transport is a real winner

Why would anyone not want to use public transport? Buses, train, busway, ferries are easy to use and open to all. They are by far the best way to move around the city or the suburbs.
Just think about it. Have you ever been sitting in your car, stuck for ages in a traffic jam? If you use public transport, you would already be at your destination, and be a lot less stressed. Sure, sometimes you might have to change trains and buses to get to where you want to go, but it is much more interesting than looking at rusty old bumper bar.
Another positive for public transport is that anyone can use it, even children. You can’t say the same about cars and motorbikes, because to drive these you need to be over 16 and have a license. Not to mention, it cost a lot of money to buy one. Also, you don’t have to worry about finding a parking spots or keeping to the speed limit. Using public transport makes traveling around town much easier.
However, the most important benefit of public transport is that it is more environmentally friendly than driving a car or riding a motorbike. Because so many people travel at the same time, less energy is used per person. More people on public transport means less people in cars and less pollution in our air. That is wonderful for protecting our environment.
Public transport is there for all of us. We should all make better use of it. If you need to go somewhere, why not catch a train, buss or ferry and save yourself time stress and money!
